This is my first official post. For my English class we watched a video called “Knock Knock” by Daniel Beaty. In this video Daniel is reciting a poem about his childhood and how he grew up without a fatherly figure in his life. His father was taken away to be a slave. The as a young boy he had to grow up on his own without his father to guide him. The video gets its name “Knock Knock” from a game the he and his father used to play before he got taken away. Later on the words “Knock Knock” is used to show how he takes down challenges in life and grows up to be a strong confident man.

This poem also relates to the book “The Help”. In the story there is a maid called Aibileen who takes care of a child called Mae Mobley. Aibileen acts like a mother to Mae Mobley and for that Mae Mobley likes her to. Near the ending of the story the person Mae Mobley adored so much had been taken away. Much like the young boy Mae Mobley had to take care of herself and overcome any challenges in her life to.

Thank you guy’s for reading this I know I’m posting this a little late but never fear I still have more work to post. I’ll probably be done by 3. Anyways I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.
